D.K.Bose, BoseDK

I swear, I have sworn, not to swear on the blogosphere but this is the song hovering in my mind. It is the current bollywood chart buster "Bhaag D.K. Bose" from the movie Delhi Belly featuring chocy-boy Imran Khan ( bollywoods answer to Robert pattinson) doing a GreenDay.
Well what is bollywod doing on a design blog u ask? (ok lets take a moment here and all agree bollywood is everywhere around the world now & it will be recurring on my blog & hollywood will aswell!)...nevertheless…Well it reminded me of an article featured in Wallpaper (my favorite design magazine) some few years back. The name had caught my attention then Bosedk a design label by two talented artists Jiten Thukral & Samir Tagra of Thukral & Tagra.
Here are a few images from the Bosedk label.

The duo has received numerous awards and was recently singled out by Wallpaper Magazine as one of the 101 best emerging international designers.

"Somnium Genero-Aeries01 ” by Thukral & Tagra. Acrylic on canvas. (1,83 m x 3,66 m)
They call their style as “Punjabi Baroque” which I totally get it once I see their work.

Although I cannot help but wonder what would be a movie version of "Punjabi baroque". Maybe something like Scarlett Johansson in The Girl with a Pearl Earring dancing on a bollywood style Bhangra number ???

Retro Modern desk : my latest flea market score!!

I just love to hunt the flea markets of Mumbai (the famous chor bazaar and the hidden treasure trove in the suburbs of mumbai at Jogeshwari ) where you can score amazing stuff. Being a designer and a promoter of recyling I can pass hours (if I could) at the furniture and antiques sections of the market. I scored this amazing retro (my current favorite style), mid-century modern table in burma teak with rosewood polish for Rs 4000/- approx 89 $...
It got me in a mode for some research for retro modern desks designed by famous architects and furniture designers.

These desks will look awesome in a home office or your living room.
I have placed this one in our living room. Check it out!
Another idea is to buy a vintage desk from the flea market and paint it with a vintage white or vintage yellow color to give it a shabby chic look. Believe me even that goes well with your modern furniture. Will share an example that I have done in my Casa in a later post. Think Recycle, Recycle, Recycle!!!

cheers!

Kickstarter - +Pool: a floating pool in NYC's East River-

Every entrepreneur knows how challenging it is to get an investor, whether to kickstart the venture or to grow your enterprise. Exciting ideas with great potential just remain stuck on the drawing board, due to lack of funding. Thats the reason why I love this website www.kickstarter.com .It is the "largest funding platform for creative projects in the world". Too bad its only for US residents.
The latest hero of the 30 day Kickstarter campaign is this amazing, architectural-scale product design project of a floating swimming pool in the East River @ NYC. Designed by FAMILY and PlayLab with Arup. The pool will be using water from the river which is treated through a specially designed filtration system.

The project so far has raised $25,000 USD.
More About this project

So if you guys do have a creative idea (which might sound crazy to others) do check this website out. And if you guys are residing in USA then what are you waiting for? Post your project!!!

What should be my first blog?

Apart from the hellos and Hi5s to the blogging world, I need to explain why I started this blog.
Well, I am an architect, a product designer & currently doing some exciting interior design & architectural work in Bombay with our firm Kaleido @ www.kaleidoarch.com. This blog is a medium to share my philosophy, and passion for all things designed. It is a journal of my design expedition where I will post inspiring ideas & work of not just my current & past projects but works of many creative individuals & firms from the field of architecture, interiors, product, fashion & graphics.
My aim is to make this blog a sounding board for all design & entrepreneurship related stuff hovering in my mind. For which, I will depend on you viewers to please leave your comments and feedback.

Thanks.
